Villages given focus in this digital history are Bayside, Brookside, East Dover, Goodwood, Hatchet Lake, Prospect, Shad Bay, Terence Bay, West Dover, and White´s Lake. Our history of these communities goes from the earliest settlement up to the1970’s. These villages are located west of Halifax towards Peggy´s Cove on the south shore, travelling west along Route 333. Most of the communities in this area are still inhabited by descendants of the first families to settle here. In many cases, original settlers were given sizable land grants, by the Colonial Government, as an enticement to make this their new home.
