Moving a House

Lloyd:     She talked about the old place and I believe they had, the Coolens, had something to do with another house or something up there, maybe they brought it down or, I don't think the old house the yellow one that the Burke's were in I think it was built right there. I think it might have been Ralf's house, Uncle Ralf's house right out on the point there. It use to be a two storey semi-flat roof, I think young Ralf junior cut the top off to make it a one storey. I think that was brought from somewhere else around Scott's River

Clifford:     They would take it down in sections and move it that way, you couldn't move it all.

Lloyd:     What, they would take a whole wall out?

Clifford:     Yup, take the roof off and the sides.

Lloyd:     Take it apart, had enough man power to lift things up and move them around like an army of ants.

Tony:     Put it on a couple a boats and bring it over?

Lloyd:     Yeah I never got that quite right.

Cliffrord     Steam Boats

Lloyd     Yeah steam boats, were the big double enders they were all twenty five to thirty feet long and you could put four by four, six by six or timber, cut down trees and lay across it and then you could put a lot of these sections of the house on it, and it would be like a catamaran.
