Ellen: Betty's would be a great place to do a dig because they were there for a long time and raised 11 children and um yeah that would be an interesting place to do a dig.
Tony: Would it have been a small community out there or was it just one house
Ellen: Oh, it was just our family, there was other families that lived there after that because the government put the lighthouse on the end of Betty's and um there were other families afterward but when the White's lived there, there wasn't a lighthouse or anything like that.
Tony: How big is the island?
Ellen: Betty's? I don't know, my Gramma,,, was an old lady who lived here in the village who used to say Betty's island was a mile long a mile and a half wide and there's gold on Betty's island. Ha, ha, ha I don't know anything about the measurements and I really don't know if there is any gold or if anyone found any I don't think.
Tony: It might have been buried by pirates!
Ellen: Oh there was a whole
story about that, and I remember about someone talking about dabloons
being found, it was a great place to run in and hide, so the Spanish
may indeed have used it as a hiding place, when they were having
there upsets with the Brit's.
Tony: Yeah and also when the British sold out the Buccaneers too
Ellen: So who knows, it's all interesting
Tony: Someone will find some Treasure out there
Ellen: Yeah, the only treasure from Betty's island is me. Ha, ha, ha, ha
